When I was a little girl my mom would magically make the most beautiful and delicious heart shaped sugar cookies appear along with some wonderfully girlie presents. Since there are more boys than girls in my current family I've gotten lazy. Well...watch out baby...I'm inspired. Guess I better go dust off my sewing machine...think my sons would mind valentine aprons?

Ellie is almost done with the new diaper bag tutorial. I 'm slow I know but I've just been having too much fun as a college student. I'll hopefully have it done before the end of next week. Sorry for the wait ladies!

Somehow E and I found Pink Christmas. Mark your calendar...you want to play next year. Anyway, in my wonderful pink envelope I received many, many goodies from sponsors, but one caught my eye....a simple brown wax bag with a list of ideas for using it (sorry no pic...I'm lazy today.) So, while my boys watch their Phillies in the first game of the World Series I thought I'd grab my laptop, sit with them, and go blog visiting...an hour later I've only gotten to one...it was so good I had to email a friend, read every post, and now write a post of my own about it...so go already :D www.2cleaverblog.com. Day 19: Aprons that make me happy

This first apron was inspired by the main fabric...which was a place mat. I love Tuesday Morning. I made it into a craft apron because I loved it's weight and structure. It will be great for holding tools, supplies etc.

This apron was inspired by a remnant fabric and an old jean skirt that I loved but is now too big to wear. My sister shared the pattern with me. I even made the bias tape out of the skirt. It makes me happy to put it on.

One of my generous eco-contributors gave us these foam shapes. Since I don't have little ones at home I hadn't figured out a use yet. When my fabulous sister Sarah saw them (she has little ones) she immediately thought of making these fun games for her kids.

Day 13: My first apron attempts

As usual I'm behind the curve, but we were given some fun fabric and I thought aprons would be very fun. So I made this one first....it's reversible...do I get extra points for that?

Then I saw a blog that had craft aprons...ohhhh I love pockets, so using bits of two different patterns I made two more...here is a picture of one of them. I made my cute son model...Iknow you can't see the pockets, but trust me they're there...he's just toooooo skinny :D

Day 12: cloth diaper burp cloths with an extra touch

We were given some cloth diaper and embroidery floss by our generous benefactors...so this is my eco-solution. They're not fancy, I only did one corner on most of them but even rags deserve a little touch of love...they're for babies after all.

My fabulous sister, Sarah, shared these great burp, spit-up, baby fluid cleaner-uper cloths with me. I love them...so easy, sweet and soft! She packages them in packets of four...what a great baby gift. Between our diaper and wipe bags, these and a little something else I'm working one...I'm looking forward to the zillion babies our friends are having. I usually dread the gift giving because I want to give something they'll love, need and use...problem solved!

This is Shelice speaking. Up until now Ellie's done all the posts etc but since she leaves for college in two days you're going to be hearing less from her and more from me... at least until she gets settled. Don't worry though, we've got a few "days" saved up. If you see something you like be sure and leave a comment...we need the love!She made these, added a few of our card...pre-addressed, and a pen and gave them to some of her favorite people as going away gift (just a little self-serving, but who doesn't like to get mail :D) I'm still waiting for mine.

Day 6: Fleece fringe blanket

So I'm off to Utah in 9 days for college! My dorm colors are brown and pink, and I wanted a blanket to match. Shelice and I went to Hancock fabrics for their sale the other day. They had their fleece 30% off so I had to get the pink and brown.
I had to wash it and then get it all lined up. When you have a big blanket you have to sew the center together so that it doesn't separate. I was just going to do a square but Shelice said I should sew one of the girls that I draw a lot, they were all over my notes in high school. I drew it on there in pencil and Shelice did all the hard work. I just cut and tied!

Day 3: Placemat Purses

I love place mats! Well, let me rephrase that, I love cute ones! I don't like to eat on the cute ones cause then you could spill on the them, possibly staining them. And then you would have to remember not to use the side you stained, assuming that it didn't soak through and stain both sides, and that is just too much work. So I am a little wacky but give me a break!
I love this one, it's just one place mat and the straps are long enough to put over your shoulder. I made one just like this for a friend for a secret santa thing this christmas. I made this one so I could have a new scripture bag, and I think that makes 1, 2, 3..., 4, 5, 6, no just five. What can I say?
This one is made of two, and again the straps are long enough to go over the shoulder. The fringe was already on there. Shelice is going to use this as a purse.

Stamp Cards: part two

I have even more cards to show, I had such a blast making them. The baby ones were made by Shelice while I made more darling flower ones.In the next five months there is going to be a baby boom in our ward so Shelice thought she would be ahead of the game and make cards for when they are born.

She made adorable envelopes to go with them!

Day 1: Stamp Cards!

Love these cards, I just used the same stamp over and over! Just made a set of three and tied them together!

I loved this little girl! I got out the brown stamp pad and white cards! And since I love brown and pink I HAD to tie it with a pink ribbon!

While I was looking through what I had I found my new favorite thing.It's a watermark stamp pad from VersaMark! All I did was put this M stampon the pad and then on to the card and look at how cute it is!

Just a cute olive green card and black ink. And matching envelopes of course!

When my mom was a leader in Young Womens she bought the value stamps. I found them and then found stamp pads of the value colors. I made a set for each of my old Young Womens leaders.

Our first guest crafter, Heather, was here today and made some cards too! Just some cards, vellum quotes, and some ribbons made these cards so cute!

Holy COW!

I knew I had great friends, really I did, but after making two pick up's today...I'm floored! I'm so blessed with generous friends. I should have taken a picture of the back of my van...we had to put the seats down and we still had things all piled on top of each other. One awesome friend even "forced" me to take the awesome organizers you see everything in. I know these pictures aren't the best, but I had to at least give you some idea of the haul from today. Let the fun begin!

As a bonus my boys got in the crafting mood. One is making a popsicle stick box for his dum dum wrapper collection. The other is making a house...nice framing job, don't ya think. Notice the fence he's started too .
............ding dong! .........we interrupt this post for another donation....another generous friend just gave us a bunch of batting, fun fabric and felt. I seriously feel like it's Christmas!

This weekend our goal is to get our "cleaned upon" and donated supplies organized. Yup, you read that right. I sent out an email to my local addicts and told them I'd be glad to take their dust collecting, guilt inducing, valuable space hogging, unused craft supplies off their hands. I'm shocked and thrilled at the responses. My goal is to make great, creative, fun, useful things for little or no money during our mother-daughter craft expedition. You could say I'm cheap or you could go with my version which is..." We all need to do our part to save the earth. If I can stop the senseless waste of craft supplies filling our nations landfills, I have to do it! Who am I to turn down donated buttons, fabric, glue etc. Just consider this my service to closets, homes, mankind and mother earth!"

Cleaning out closets

Cleaning out your closets can lead to lots of thing but in our case it lead to thinking of crafts ideas with materials we "cleaned upon." We have to confess that our whole inspiration for this is Pink Christmas. We want to rock our sister's worlds with our amazing gifts. Our brains are still brewing the amazing crafts we will create and we'll open shop on the first of August. Check back then for crafts and fun announcements!
